Worn Out Welcome & A Wild Party

When we got home tonight from Striker's softball game, I looked down at our door mat and said "We've worn out our welcome", then took a picture after I was done laughing at myself. I figured that it would be tonight's post...

Then we opened the door...

We weren't sure which of the furries was the culprit, until I found these...Oskar was definitely involved...though I think he had help ;)

And now Oskar is passed out on the couch...

Glucose Test

Thursday I took my glucose tolerance test. Drinking the lemon lime flavored stuff was super nasty. Most people get orange...I'm 2 for 2 with lemon lime. It's what I imagine Sprite would taste like without being diluted by carbonated water. GAG! I can't really complain too much though because I didn't have to fast and it was only the 1 hour version. (I've previously survived the fasting 3 hour version before I was pg...definitely not something I'd want to repeat while pg and used to eating and drinking water every few hours.)

Why is it that Quest Diagnostics reminds me of the DMV or Social Security office? Anyone else share this with me?

While sitting there post syrup guzzle and pre-visit to Vampira (what I call the blood suckers), I was interrogated by a woman about my belly - and I contemplated making a sandwich board to wear when I leave the house with the following: "Twin boys due in early December. no, twins do not run in our family. yes, we are very excited. yes, we have picked out their names. no, i'm not telling you because not even our families know and I don't want to hear all of your 'suggestions'. Yes, I know it'll be a lot of work, and I'm prepared for little sleep. I'm also a good multi-tasker and feel that I can handle it (especially with the help of my family and friends), but thank you for your lack of confidence." I realize that it'd have to be a pretty big board to fit all of that legibly, but I figure the belly is a pretty good canvas.

I was continually annoyed by the number of people who think it's okay to sit in a waiting room and carry on a conversation on their cell phones for the duration of their wait. Maybe this is why I'm such a fan of texting and BBM...I know I'm not disturbing others...I consider it a form of public service ;)

Then I got to witness this conversation:
Quest Front Desk Lady: Sir, have you been fasting?
Foreign Looking Man: (pause) No.
QFDL: Did you have food today?
FLM: No.
QFDL: Then you've been fasting.

After sucking just two medium sized vials of blood, Vampira taped me up like this:















Necessary? I think not!!! She also told me to keep my arm straight so it wouldn't bruise, which was a first for me...and I've had A LOT of blood drawn in the last 18 years. I didn't bruise, but hardly ever do. I think the extreme compression helped, but 1 tiny piece of gauze and tape with a bent elbow has done the trick many times before. There was seriously a half inch stack of gauze under all that tape...and my arms have a good amount of hair on them...or did before I ripped the tape off...thank goodness it wasn't the plastic kind!

27 Weeks (plus 1 day)

I intentionally posted this week's belly picture a day late as a result of today being the 2 year anniversary of my Chiari decompression surgery. It was definitely one of the most life changing moments for me and will always hold a top 3 spot (along with meeting the hubby and having the boys).

My belly is a topic of conversation wherever I go (granted that's not many places), and I am continually amazed by how many people are, have, or know twins. My dentist is a twin and he has twin boys. My insurance guy has twins. The list goes on and on...I am also amused when people tell me how small I am for twins...direct result of my sitting around doing nothing but eating, sleeping, and drinking water. If I were working, I'm certain that I'd be a lot bigger due to a less healthy diet, less water drank, and more water retained. I still only get cankles temporarily if I sit with my feet down for too long, but they go away pretty quickly after I put them up and drink extra water.

Feeling a little brave, I decided to pay homage to KT and her 27 Week Belly, and also humor GI Jane with these...though now I think it's only fair that Jane posts her Demi Moore pictures ;)

Wow, my belly is really white! Though I'm rather happy that it's white and not streaked with red stretch marks or the weird brown line. For this picture my belly button even stayed in...which is surprising, because it's usually out a little. There really isn't much left since it's been stretched so far. My scars from my appendectomy no longer match up...the circle used to be centered under the horizontal incision line, but now it's completely off to one side, not under the line at all (you can't see it in the picture, but I find that amusing).

I am almost done being able to wear my wedding rings...I have trouble getting them off and think I'll be wearing the ring that's normally on my right hand for the duration...don't want my finger to fall off! ;)

Dear FarmVille,

I have admitted to being an addict. I plant my crops according to my daily schedule and harvest faithfully. On a day where I have an early morning glucose test and should be earning enough coins to once again expand (and make room for my herd of ridiculously large baby elephants), it is extremely annoying to have persistent connectivity issues which prevent me from harvesting and planting before I need to leave. I repeatedly refreshed enough times to harvest my tomatoes, but am not sure I will have the time or patience to plant a new crop. I will likely fall short of my coin goal for the day. Don't make me stomp my foot and pout.

...is RIDICULOUS!!! A FEW DAYS?! If I came back in a few days all of my crops will be dead! I have some grapes that will need harvesting in a few hours...please let me harvest the crop...I can't let the whole spread go to waste!

HOA Annual Meeting

Clearly I have time on my hands. Tonight I attended our HOA's Annual Meeting...and walked the neighborhood knocking on doors to collect enough ballots to establish a quorum and allow Striker's replacement to be elected. I joined forces with another pregnant neighbor who is due a week before me and managed to collect enough ballots. Apparently it's hard to ignore the pregnant lady knocking on your door...or when she's stalked you in your garage before you had a chance to close the door after driving in upon your return home from work. Not that I did that or anything...especially not multiple times...nor did I stand on the corner that is the entrance to our community and flag down/follow cars on their way home. Luckily it's a small community and we divided and conquered...either way, I'm exhausted...and I doubt I walked even a half mile. House arrest has ruined my endurance. BTW, lying to your fellow neighbor about whether or not you turned in your ballot, whether or not you're the homeowner, etc does not go unnoticed, nor will it be forgotten. I hope the pigeons poop on your house!

Checks from Chase

I ordered checks from Chase since I wasn't sure how to order pretty ones since we're still transitioning from WaMu and well, free is always a good price. I didn't realize I'd have to assemble my own box.

Even the Mouse is Doing It!

Today marks the first day of Disney's blog. Love the concept...interested to see how it evolves. According to the "chief blogger" and "social media director" Thomas Smith, they'll be sharing the latest official information about all things Disney from various departments and cast members. You can post comments (which of course will be moderated). There have already been 5 posts today.

The only thing better will be if they have various characters "guest blog". Goofy can represent the horticulture department, Mickey can cover Disneyland, Minnie can cover Walt Disney World, etc. For some reason, I think I might find that more interesting, but the social media people probably don't want to give up their glory. They can hire me to moderate the comments...I promise, I'll behave :)
