Kindred Spirits

While driving with the hubby to go bowling on Sunday, I took a picture of a few license plates, including this one (yes, it's IMAGIN3):

We pulled up to a traffic light and the driver's door of the car next to us opened. (In case you are wondering, the driver opted to open the door rather than roll down his window because he had one of those roll up shades typically used for children/infants or by Asian people.) The little old man - whom I believed to be a Veteran by the bumper stickers on his car - leans out and waits for me to roll down the window...

Little Old Man: I get the H2O, but what does CPA mean?
Hubby: (thinks for a second) Oh, it means Certified Public Accountant - I'm an accountant for a water district.
LOM: Oh, I get it! (rolls up window, drives off chuckling)
Hubby and I: (Laughing hysterically)
Me: Catch him! I need a picture of his Prius!

Happy belated Memorial Day, Mr. Veteran-Fellow-License-Plate-Lover!

Hi-ho, Hi-ho...

...It's off to Tampa, I go!

Even though I'm not a permanent A 1-15 like some HCBC members I know, I'm quite happy with my A33 from Ontario to Phoenix this morning. That will ensure that I get a window seat to nap in for my 6:35 AM flight.

I'm gonna be in PHX for about an hour before I head off to Tampa - Jane, any chance you'll be there? :)

Best $20 I ever spent!

If you have a cat, you need to get one of these from Target.

It's sorta hard to tell from the picture, but the thing is U-shaped so that it rocks back and forth. Inside each of the large green tubes is a ball in a track so that it slides back and forth and jingles a bell inside the ball as it rocks. The middle portion is perfect for scratching, and the top part has a ball with a bell to bat at.

The best part? Felix loves it!

It's Raining...

On Friday - after getting off work a few hours early, YAY! - Pickle and I headed to Ikea. Between the two of us, we didn't do too much damage - although I did find a cabinet that I've added to my wish list of furniture for the house...

We loaded up our findings...
For me:
Storage boxes
Picture frame
Under cabinet wine glass racks

For Pickle:
Really big mirror
Pillow
Random Bowl
Spatula/Flipper thing
Multiple picture frames

And headed for the door, only to discover that it was raining...

As the driver of the Ikea approved vehicle, I walked briskly through the rain in my flip flops and short sleeved shirt to find that the idiot parked next to me on the driver's side was WAY too close, so in a hurry I climbed through the passenger side.

Then I made the relatively short drive to the pick up area and was almost involved in 3 separate car accidents because people in CA are worse drivers that usual when it's raining, especially if it's raining hard enough to require windshield wipers to be constantly on. None of the near accidents were my fault, I swear!

Alas, there are not photos of my frolic in the rain because I don't believe that Mr. Pearl is waterproof.

At least the rainy day ended on a good note - Pickle and I had a tasty dinner at Claim Jumper...yes, I had my bread bowl! :)

Virtual Friends

As I mentioned on Tuesday, my Chiari Twin Tammy had a repeat brain surgery yesterday.

This morning I received a BBM (that's BlackBerry Message for those of you without CrackBerries) from her boyfriend letting me know that she did well and was sleeping (which is pretty much all that you do for the first few days after brain surgery). He thanked me for talking to her about the condition and helping her feel normal (which is something that all Chiarians so desperately need!) and mentioned that she talks about me all the time. That got me thinking...

The majority of the people that I "talk" to on a daily/regular basis are what I would classify as Virtual Friends. Several live out of state, one I've never met in person, others I've only met in person for a few hours total. Yet, these are some of my closest friends and people that I tell just about everything to. I love technology! :)

Holy Tornado!

Toto, we're not in Kansas...in fact, we're in Moreno Valley, California. This picture was taken by someone who lives in the same neighborhood as our first house (now rental).

When I heard the news report on the radio driving home and heard the proximity of where it touched down, I knew it was right at the freeway exit to our old house. I took out Mr. Pearl and went to ABC7 and freaked when I recognized the neighborhood in the picture.

How happy am I that we moved?

Lip Wax?

I've noticed an alarming trend lately - every time I get my eyebrows waxed, the lady asks if I want my lip waxed too. I've always declined as it hadn't ever occurred to me that I needed my lip waxed. On Saturday, the lady went to far as to ask "Are you sure?" when I declined. Do I need to wax my lip? Be honest, please! Is this just some ploy to get more money like the hot oil massage, salt scrub, and nail designs they offer?
