American Idol

After Michael Johns left Idol last week, I was distraught. Not only was he talented, but he's also easy on the eyes. And yes, the hubby was rather pleased when he was voted off (other than the fact that he had him in the top 4 of his AI Pool at work) :)

However, David Cook has been steadily growing on me. Tonight, without MJ's distraction, I thoroughly enjoyed David's version of possibly one of the most annoying Mariah Carey songs ever recorded. He's my new favorite. And please, let this week be the week that Kristy Lee Cook goes home!

Idol Gives Back

Who knew Teri Hatcher could sing? I was rather impressed with her version of Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats".

How I Met Your Mother

Does anyone else see the irony in Britney Spears being on a show called How I Met Your Mother?

I LOVE this show and I'm torn that Britney is going to be on the first episode after it comes back post-writer's strike. I've anxiously been awaiting the return of all of my shows, but don't want to watch Britney. Then again, it's sorta like a car accident...I can't help but look!

Birthday Extravaganza - Sunday

I've been having quite the celebratory extravaganza for my 27th birthday. Sunday night was dinner at The Melting Pot with the family. We sit down with our rather rambunctious party of 8 and my Uncle begins to heckle the server. My sister and I at the other end of the table immediately think that we both know her from somewhere. We think high school, but that doesn't seem quite right.

Dinner progresses and we still can't quite figure it out. The server mentions she's been married about a year. My mother and in-laws are deep in conversation naming our as-yet-unconceived children (father-in-law wants a granddaughter and mother wants a grandson). They are throwing around both girl and boy names and are trying to come up with "cool" initials (i.e. I'm JAK). They ask the server her initials - DLS, for Dustin Leigh.

BINGO! How many girls are named Dustin in California? (One of you nutty HCBC girls will Google that, so I'll just continue). I instantly know that she's one of the "Beauty Queens" aka "Blondies" from the Amazing Race. I tell the fam when she runs off for our next course and then make my father-in-law confirm that she is in fact who I think she is.

The family then hits her up with a bunch of questions and I request a picture with her - hey, it WAS my "birthday"! About this time I've texted the Champ and Rach (huge Amazing Race fans - sorry Jane, I didn't have your cell until today), and Kim of course replies that I must get a picture for the blog...here you go:

And thus, this is why we need to go back to The Melting Pot in Brea on the last Tuesday of the month for Girls Night Out. That way we can stalk poor Dustin and make her an honorary member of the HCBC!

BTW - while I am not a small girl, Dustin is itty bitty of Rachel proportions.

Dancing With The Stars?

Dancing with the Stars premieres March 17th and let me just say that it'll be towards the bottom of my TiVo list.

It seems that each season the Stars get a little less bright...this season's cast includes:
Telenovela star Cristian de la Fuente
R&B singer Mario
Magician Penn Jillette
Actor Steve Guttenberg
Olympic Gold Medal Figure Skater Kristi Yamaguchi
Former tennis pro Monica Seles
NFL Player Jason Taylor
Actress Shannon Elizabeth
Radio/TV personality Adam Carolla
Actress Marissa Jaret Winokur
Oscar-winning actress Marlee Matlin
Actress Priscilla Presley

Let's forget the fact that I haven't heard of half of these people. Does anyone want to see 62 year old Priscilla Presley in spandex and sequins? Didn't we suffer enough watching Marie Osmond and Jane Seymour? Thank goodness the writers strike has ended!

Colorguard to Flag Official

While watching the Daytona 500 with the hubby and working on my laptop, the hubby and I had the following conversation:

Me: I want to be the Flag Official
Hubby: Why?
Me: Well, they don't need to have someone stand there and wave the flags, but they do.
Hubby: What do you mean?
Me: They could easily replace the guy with a big screen with a digital Flag Official, but they haven't. Clearly it's an important job.

It turns out there are two officials in the stand...who knew?

Best news all week!

(It's Tuesday and I understand that my expectations might be a little low...)

The Writers are going back to work - the strike is OVER!!!!!

That means I can get back to watching such wonderful shows as:
Grey's Anatomy
House (there have been some new episodes lately but there was a long hiatus)
The Office
How I Met Your Mother
Desperate Housewives
Private Practice
Samantha Who?

Sadly I had to refer back to my TiVo for that list...sigh...More good news is that we won't run out of episodes of Cashmere Mafia now...hopefully the return of all of the favorites doesn't hurt its success...HCBC for Cashmere Mafia!!!

American Gladiator

The hubby and I were watching American Gladiators tonight when I see the following shot:

I say to the hubby: That guy's torso is as big as the gladiator's leg. Then...

Hulk says the same thing!

Throughout the entire show I was annoyed and perplexed by this image:

1) Is the same audience that watches American Gladiator the target audience for Lipstick Jungle? (I know the hubby will NOT be watching LJ)
2) Was it necessary to leave it up there the entire episode?
3) The premiere of this show has been so poorly marketed that perhaps they have needed to leave the advertisement up there 24/7 until it actually premieres in order to have hope of any viewers. I've been anxiously awaiting the premiere of LJ since the Queen had it on her list of must watch shows. My TiVo has been unable to locate it and schedule a season pass and I'd all but given up hope. Then I happened upon this tonight and will try to add it yet again. At this point, I fear it won't come close to the brilliance of Cashmere Mafia, which I love!

The Price is Right

I watched The Price is Right today with its new host, Drew Carey. Not bad. Drew seems a little uncomfortable around the CRAZED contestants, yet that's what The Price is Right is all about. They haven't renamed the Barker's Beauties...but I'm suggesting Carey's Cuties or Drew's Divas. I think he'll do well as the host once he settles in.
