Bike to Work Day

Apparently today is Bike to Work Day. It wasn't until I was driving home, talking on the phone with Pickle, that I saw the declaration of Bike to Work Day on the Amber Alert sign. I literally LOL'd since the sign was located in the one canyon where the freeway is the only way to get through. Then I realized that I didn't see it on my way to work. Then I thought that maybe it was actually tomorrow? Not sure. No date was given. I haven't yet Googled, as I am getting a long overdue pedicure (and much needed after the morning I had!), but I may not get around to it since I find the concept of Bike to Work Day a hysterical declaration for the 91 freeway. If I could ride my bike to work, why the heck would I "drive" on the parking lot that is the 91?

Regretfully, I did not capture a picture of the sign. Chatting with Pickle delayed my observation, and then I didn't have enough time for Mr Pearl to switch to camera mode. Sigh.

If you feel like Googling (and commenting of course), I promise to dedicate my next post to you!

May is National Bike Month

The League of American Bicyclists is promoting Bike-to-Work Week from May 11-15 and Bike-to-Work Day on Friday, May 15. Need some ideas? Use the League's step by step guide on how to get started promoting your event. Help us Count Cyclists In this May, and every month!

However, please note, San Fransisco has dedicated a different day: "The San Francisco Bay Area's 15th Annual Bike to Work Day will take place on Thursday, May 14, 2009. Bike to Work Day is the premier bicycling event taking place in all of Northern California with all nine Bay Area counties participating in the celebration. The event is just one day of many events taking place in May as part of National Bike Month."

Do I win a post?

A. I guess they can't declare Friday a NATIONAL bike-to-work day since there's already a declared abstention.
B. Why am I not surprised that San Francisco's would be different?
