Who thought this was a good idea?

Barista OCD

This is how my barista handed me my chai this morning:

How awesome is she?! The label is even placed neatly over the boxes. I love her! She's getting a tip tomorrow...in fact, I will make an effort to carry cash regularly just so that I can tip her! There is no way all was properly aligned (including the sip hole) by accident!!!

Stressed?

One of my co-workers passed along this stress test to see if I was as bad off as her. Yes, I was at the far end of the stress chart. My question is...is anyone not at the extreme right of this chart?

Delta via Express Jet - Part 2

Reasons I actually LIKED this experience:
1) 19 rows of 3 people = half as many people on the plane
2) Due to #1, less noise
3) Due to #1, less time to get drinks and snacks
4) Due to #1, fewer annoying passengers that appear to have never flown before
5) I got to SLC - that's Salt Lake City ;) - in less than 2 hours without having to stop anywhere, leaving from Ontario
6) Because it's a small plane the engines are at the very back so it seemed more smooth and quiet
7) There wasn't anyone sitting on either side of me...in fact, I had both the aisle and window seat at the same time
8) There were several empty seats allowing those that needed more room to take it
9) They offered tasty snacks besides just peanuts (nothing fancy, but not just peanuts)

Reasons I didn't like this experience:
1) You have to walk down to the tarmac and then up the stairs onto the plane
2) Due to #1, the gate is at the end of the terminal
3) Due to #2, you have to do A LOT of walking while lugging your laptop and Anatomy book (to study on the plane) - note to self...get a roller bag for laptop and wear flats
4) If the weather were crappy, #1-3 would have been exponentially worse

Overall, I liked it and I'd fly Express Jet second to Southwest.

Not-so-blonde Moment

While dining at Chili's last night with Pickle I made the revelation that my driver's license was MIA. I vaguely recalled having it in the back pocket of my jeans last Friday at the Kings game, but couldn't remember putting it back into my wallet, so I'd assumed it was there.

The problem was that no license = no adult beverages at Chili's. Now please keep in mind that I only get carded half of the time, and usually only at places that card everyone. Chili's is one of those places. I did have a photo copy of my license on the back of my gym card AND my license with my maiden name that had expired.

I offered both non-license, licenses to the server (who Pickle and I guessed to be 22) and who then apologized that she couldn't accept my non-licenses (or my wrinkles) as my proof of age, because she could get fired. Sigh...

I lieu of adult beverages we consumed replacement calories in the White Chocolate Molton Cake - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

BTW, license was later found in a random pocket in my purse. I'm a dork!

Dancing With The Stars?

Dancing with the Stars premieres March 17th and let me just say that it'll be towards the bottom of my TiVo list.

It seems that each season the Stars get a little less bright...this season's cast includes:
Telenovela star Cristian de la Fuente
R&B singer Mario
Magician Penn Jillette
Actor Steve Guttenberg
Olympic Gold Medal Figure Skater Kristi Yamaguchi
Former tennis pro Monica Seles
NFL Player Jason Taylor
Actress Shannon Elizabeth
Radio/TV personality Adam Carolla
Actress Marissa Jaret Winokur
Oscar-winning actress Marlee Matlin
Actress Priscilla Presley

Let's forget the fact that I haven't heard of half of these people. Does anyone want to see 62 year old Priscilla Presley in spandex and sequins? Didn't we suffer enough watching Marie Osmond and Jane Seymour? Thank goodness the writers strike has ended!

Dream Dinners Open House!

This Friday at the Anaheim Hills location. Details can be found here.

Kat, Jinjer, and anyone else...let me know if you want to go and I'll go make a few extra meals with you. I know that Rachel will be making an appearance...

Colorguard to Flag Official

While watching the Daytona 500 with the hubby and working on my laptop, the hubby and I had the following conversation:

Me: I want to be the Flag Official
Hubby: Why?
Me: Well, they don't need to have someone stand there and wave the flags, but they do.
Hubby: What do you mean?
Me: They could easily replace the guy with a big screen with a digital Flag Official, but they haven't. Clearly it's an important job.

It turns out there are two officials in the stand...who knew?

How I Met The Hubby

Sorry this is long...

1. Where did you meet?
Cal State Fullerton in our Statistics class the Spring Semester of 2002 - He got an A on the test that I got a C on...this is NOT typical of my overachiever nature...meeting someone that was cute and a bigger overachiever than I, was HIGHLY attractive

2. What was the first thought that went through your head when you met?
OVERACHIEVER, followed by cute guy, LOVE his blue eyes and dark hair

3. Do you remember what they were wearing?
Actually I think so...red and blud patterned dress shirt (that I later learned was from Old Navy when I started doing his laundry) with a navy sweater over it...PREPPY = HOT!

4. Where was the first time you kissed this person?
After our first date at my mom's house...sorry mom!

5. How did he ask you out?
On the premise of helping me study since I clearly needed the help

6. Where did you go for your first date?
TGI Fridays and then to play pool (which we both sucked at)...we only studied each other

7.How long did you know this person before you became a couple?
ummmmmmmm...less than a week? That's not quite right...We met at the beginning of the semester which was early February, I was working on breaking up with the current bf and officially dumped him after my 21st birthday trip to Vegas on St. Patricks Day. I believe our first date was a week after that and it was pretty much instant couplehood.

8. Has this person ever proposed to you?
I would hope so since we've been married for 3 1/2 years

9. Do you and this person have kids together?
Not yet

10. Have you ever broken the law with this person?
We speed, does that count?

11. When was the first time you realized that you liked this person?
See #1

12. Whats the most expensive thing this person has given you?
Wedding Ring

13. What is one thing he does that makes you a happy wife?
There are many: puts up with me :), challenges me intellectually, helps out around the house, drives me everywhere we go together, lets me sleep on all car rides lasting 15 mins or more, takes care of the dog and cat "presents" (he leaves the puke for me though)

14. What is the thing you do that gets on his nerves?
There are many: leaving every pair of shoes that I wear downstairs (I hate wearing shoes in the house and at least I've began putting them in a box), not putting a new roll of tp on the dispenser (I just sit it on top - he's accepted this and just does it for me), when I'm SUPER lazy and guilt him into doing chores because I have to work (then end up blogging), when I yell at him (the frequency has decreased since my surgery at least)

15. Will this person repost this?
Probably not, but he'll probably comment

I'd like to apologize to Jinjer for pretty much stealing her survey idea...but it was such a good one that I can't help posting these when I come across them now...plus they are great for when I want to procrastinate on writing appraisals. :)

Best news all week!

(It's Tuesday and I understand that my expectations might be a little low...)

The Writers are going back to work - the strike is OVER!!!!!

That means I can get back to watching such wonderful shows as:
Grey's Anatomy
House (there have been some new episodes lately but there was a long hiatus)
The Office
How I Met Your Mother
Desperate Housewives
Private Practice
Samantha Who?

Sadly I had to refer back to my TiVo for that list...sigh...More good news is that we won't run out of episodes of Cashmere Mafia now...hopefully the return of all of the favorites doesn't hurt its success...HCBC for Cashmere Mafia!!!

Monday, February 11, 2008

It's the least wonderful time of the year...

It's annual appraisal time, which means that I have to write 15 performance appraisals by the 22nd. Sigh...If my blogs suck until then, I'm sorry...please understand!

Hair a la Jason

I let this guy cut my hair today:
[That's my sister (maid of honor) and Jason (best man) at my wedding 3 1/2 years ago.]

I'm not crazy, I swear! Jason's been an aspiring hair dresser since I've known him and has colored his hair every color in the rainbow and then some. After this platinum monstrosity, which almost caused me to BIC his head, his hair has been a "natural" hair color ever since...I still haven't got around to photo shopping it back to a normal color in my wedding photos...at least it makes for a good story. I digress...

Jason finally got licensed and started working at a salon in Fullerton, which gave me enough confidence to let him touch my inverted mohawk after swearing I'd never let him touch my hair. I hadn't had a trim in 5 months and have an inverted mohawk for crying out loud - what's the worst that could've happened?

Reasons to have Jason cut/color/style your hair:
1) Extra long shampoo/conditioning which includes a scalp massage that practically put me to sleep, total bonus!
2) Takes his time to make it just right
3) He offers suggestions to break up the hair monotony that we can so easily fall into
4) He's just starting out and needs to build up his client base
5) I said so, and if I'm going back, you should too!

Here's the final product (again, I failed to take a before photo of my "5 months since my last haircut" hair):
I wish I would have put makeup on before I took this...

Dream Dinners Update

The hubby and I had the Cider Braised Pork Chops - TASTY! Of course I forgot to take a picture...I'll work on that!

Dream Dinners

If you've never done this, you should!!! It's a little overwhelming at first (and you could be an idiot like me and make a different beef meal than the one you ordered) but it's totally awesome!!!! I've wanted to do this ever since Kim blogged about it and finally got to go!

I went tonight with Rach and she showed me the ropes - thanks Rach! It was totally fun and we've already booked our next visit in March.

Reasons I LOVED it:
-I prepped 12 dinners in a little over an hour
-I didn't have to spend any time in a grocery store
-Everything was ready and waiting for me
-I didn't have to clean up ANYTHING
-They packed my cooler for me and then carried it out to the car
-I got a free meal when signing up for a March session tonight
-All of the choices were things that I'd never make because I'd never have all of the ingredients
-It doesn't really cost much more than if I were to make something similar myself

Reasons I didn't love it:
-The stupid lady that took FOREVER at the last station I needed. I tried really hard to take a discreet photo of her but I didn't want to be kicked out after I'd already made a meal I didn't order. (Thankfully they were really nice about the meal and just let me keep that one. The one I'd originally ordered didn't really seem that appetizing anymore anyhow). She took up the entire counter space that was intended for three separate stations and moved really slowly. I hung out with Rach while she made 2 different meals and FINALLY the lady finished.

Note of caution: Those that are really picky eaters (or have spouses that are - sorry Kat!) might not find too many things that are plain enough. I consider myself fairly picky though (no seafood and not too many veggies) but I found that almost all of the meals sounded appetizing. If there's something you hate in a recipe, you can always leave it out.
You might be a Starbucks addict if...you risk being late to work to get your morning fix.

A 22 for You!

There's a new hot shot on the Kings hockey team that I think might make KT change her thoughts on the Kings - Brian Boyle #22 - He's scored a goal in each of his first two NHL games!! Check out those credentials - talk about an overachiever ;)

American Gladiator

The hubby and I were watching American Gladiators tonight when I see the following shot:

I say to the hubby: That guy's torso is as big as the gladiator's leg. Then...

Hulk says the same thing!

Throughout the entire show I was annoyed and perplexed by this image:

1) Is the same audience that watches American Gladiator the target audience for Lipstick Jungle? (I know the hubby will NOT be watching LJ)
2) Was it necessary to leave it up there the entire episode?
3) The premiere of this show has been so poorly marketed that perhaps they have needed to leave the advertisement up there 24/7 until it actually premieres in order to have hope of any viewers. I've been anxiously awaiting the premiere of LJ since the Queen had it on her list of must watch shows. My TiVo has been unable to locate it and schedule a season pass and I'd all but given up hope. Then I happened upon this tonight and will try to add it yet again. At this point, I fear it won't come close to the brilliance of Cashmere Mafia, which I love!

Drunken Polka Fest

Drinking the free wine at dinner isn't the same without Teresa - that has become one of those stories that's going to be told at every Ball for at least the next few years...
Who puts tequila in a LIT?! Karl was drunk enough that he could drink it - I could not.

This was completely random and unstaged (this was when I was on my third LIT and couldn't have possibly staged this!):

Thankfully I made taking a family picture the first thing we did, so that it wouldn't end up a repeat of last year with no family photo. Look how we all match! I loved my mother in law's dress!!!

I'm totally proud of this picture - I'd like to mention that I was not wearing any fat sucker inner garments and doesn't the hubby look HOT?!

Blogging while drunk

This is for Queen B. Normally I would have waited until tomorrow when I was sober. Tonight I had a LIT for me, KT, Sydney and QB. Needless to say I'm a tad drunk. Sadly QB said I was texting while drunk early at 10:00 PM!

Some of the evidence:

8675309

When I saw this shirt, it made me giggle, so I bought it.
Reasons why:
1) Creative marketing/design
2) 80s flashback (1982 to be exact)
3) You can call me any form of Jennifer EXCEPT Jenny. (Unless you're my mother or my aunt.) This also made me think of the struggle some have faced when they realized that no one actually calls me Jenn Ann. (You know who you are :) )

Where did the Jenn Ann come from you ask? Well, my given name is Jennifer Ann. In elementary school, I was known as Jennifer D. as there were always at least 2 other Jennifers in my class. In junior high, I had a Jennie phase - one of my closest friends was also a Jennifer D. so we got creative. In high school, I went back to Jennifer and used my last name often. It was around this time that AIM came into my life and I selected the screen name: JennAnn3, since every other version of Jennifer I tried was already taken. (The 3 is for my birthday, March 3rd.) In college, Jenn caught on and I got personalized plates for my car: JENNANN. Now, everyone still calls me Jenn. So, when it was time for me to create a Blogger alias, Jenn Ann seemed the logical choice so that I would somehow be distinguishable from all of the other Jennifers/Jenns in the world.

I may have issues...

Reasons why I think I might be a little OCD...

Thank you to the hubby for putting my new tags on my car...I will cope with this, I promise.
