Justice is Served

In the days of celebrities getting away with murder, it's nice to see justice being served. One of the hubby's friends was murdered in 2001 and on Tuesday, finally, a jury convicted the scumbag that killed her. The full story can be found here.

How awful. And it's sooo not fair that it was taken 6.5 years to convict him. And of course the appeal process will get him another 30 years of life. That's what's wrong with our system!
I'm so glad though that they caught him. Maybe now family & friends can find some peace.

I remember that day vividly. It was August 18, 2001, and I was at dinner in Palm Springs when my dad called me and told me what happened.

The reason it took so long to convict is because it took almost 5 years to solve the crime. California passed Proposition 69 in 2005, which took effect in 2006. That expanded the state's DNA base to include nonviolent felonies in to play. As a result, they were able to tie the scumbag to the crime. It was only a month or two after the law took effect that they found the guy.

It was amazing, because we had all lost hope that her killer would be found. This would not have been possible without the passage of this law. For once, the residents of California really did make a big difference!

Guilty, Guilty, Guilty. Stop letting these people off! I'm glad to hear justice was served.

This has been hard on her family and William. When William was King of the dance group she was the Queen ! I hope there is a little closure. She will always be missed.
