Yet Another Reason I'm a Sucker!

The alternate title could read: "Further Proof that the Hubby Knows How to Con Me Into Anything".

I came home from a very lovely baby shower for one of our friends (they're having twin girls - congrats Stabio & Konrad Families!) and was met by the hubby with the following:

The boat

Boat Specs

Boat Financing Option

Convincing Suggestions
(Queen B how much do you love that it's a WikiHow?)

I knew this was coming...he's his father's son after all. A few weeks ago when the hubby and I were at the lake on our stay-cation with the Sea Doos, I made a comment that we'd need to trade in the Sea Doos and get a boat when we had kids. That's all it took for him to do his research and submit his proposal.

It's only a matter of time before I cave, but I thought I'd prolong the inevitable by having an official poll. Please place your votes on the right.

There is something very important that I left out of my proposal that everyone should consider when voting on whether we should get a boat. Our older Sea Doo will be banned in California in 2010. Therefore, if we waited a year to trade them, the value would go way down, so we need to get rid of it as soon as possible. Since we have a double trailer with the other Sea Doo we have, it would make sense to trade them now so we can get more bang for our buck (not to mention that the price will likely go up as a result of inflation in our economy).

Not trying to influence anybody, just wanted to point some facts out.

1. You did suggest it.
2. If brotha is willing to give up bowling....

Buy the boat!!

I think the point that the one sea doo will be banned in Ca makes for a good decision to get the boat. On the other hand, I will tell you one thing: we have a boat and it is expensive and a money pit and we pay an arm and a leg for it as well as the insuance and the boat storage and we rarely use it. Just food for thought...but I will also say that when we use it, it is the most fun ever!!

Get a boat!! I will make treats, lunch, and dinner each time you take us on the boat!! We love boating best thing my mom has ever bought :-)

The boat we are considering is made by Sea Doo. I have had (in one form or another) 3 Sea Doo jet skis, and I have never had any maintenance problems with them. The boat will have the Rotax engine just like the jet skis did. Therefore, the only real expense will be the fuel and the oil with the occassional maintenance. I know other types of boats are money pits, as Jinjer said, which is why I am suggesting the boat I am suggesting. Plus, unless I can't fit in the driveway, we can store it at our house in Lake Elsinore, so we won't have to pay to store it. And, because of that, we have a place to go use it on a regular basis.

1. How cool is it that your husband actually wrote up a proposal for you?!

2. He is willing to sacrifice!

3. Boating is a GREAT family activity.

4. The only downfall is: a boat is a money-pit. Even if it's a SeaDoo. Sorry!

I still say get the boat...enjoy life!

Sorry son I think mom canceled my vote. I didn't see the cost of a trailer listed.

ok, I have to retract my bbm response. I couldn't read the proposal from Mrs. Pearl. Now that I have read it, I am going to have to support Striker. It is well thought out and seems to pass the common sense test. Also, I think that Striker needs to update the wikihow to include detail on proposal writing.

Woo hoo! I have to admit that I was really worried about this because I was almost certain I was fighting an uphill battle in the blogosphere. But then again, I am glad that Jenn makes me jump through hoops because it really keeps our wallet in check. Just imagine if she let me buy whatever I wanted!! :) And yes, I am a CPA.

I say buy now. you found a killer deal on a 07. and u can prbly get it out the door for 19-20 thats almost 10 grand cheaper then the 09. There really isnt uch to think about at that point. The question is why the boat isnt in the drive way at the lake house yet?

He's willing to sacrifice quantities of bowling and cook and do the prep work for outings? Such a well laid out proposal. I'd buy him one if it were possible! Does make sense to trade in while there's still value and a chance to maybe get an '07 or '08 at a good deal.
