Bad Patient Service

There are 2 reasons that we'll be changing doctors for the boys. The main one is that I don't feel they are that supportive of breastfeeding and have been too quick to suggest supplementing both boys despite their both growing on pace. They don't ask very many questions which is necessary for proper diagnosis. I'd rather take them to the family practice physician who finally got my Chiari diagnosed.

The other is this note:
To Our Patients:
Please verify with your insurance company if the doctor you will see is under your plan. We don't have enough time to verify your eligibility. If the doctor is not covered, you will be responsible for the full amount.

To quote my mother in law (who works in an urgent care office), "that's their job!"

Sounds like a run of the mill office. All they want is your money and nothing else. Your boys deserve more. Good call on switching!

I can't believe they have a sign that says that!!

Doctors definitely need to ask questions. Good call on the switch, at least you have a replacement doctor!

my bbm is now down, so I was unable to converse with you on this :(

Definitely agree switching... I mean, I know how much you love being on the phone with your insurance company, but that is really ridiculous.

BlackBerry being down totally stinks...I actually SMS texted back and forth with KT earlier...what is THAT?!

I won't need to call my insurance company...I can change PCP's online...I just need to wait until after January 1 when we're under Will's insurance. Blue Cross is wonderful. Their website is WAY better than Cigna's, though I love Cigna's insurance...at least I got my money's worth with Cigna ;)

Ummm, yeah, definitely be changing doctors. Asking questions is very important to make a proper diagnosis.

Good call and good luck.

Despite that fact that that letter is lame, most health professionals are not supportive of breastfeeding (expect me and other lactation specialist). Keep up the good work.

Congratulations on your babies! I just stumbled on your blog so I haven't had much time to read up on the delivery and such. But just wanted to say hello and totally undertstand that your life is very busy right now. Mine too. But keep up with the breastfeeding. I did have to supplement, I know that the doctors just wanted to make sure that the babies were getting adequate amount of calories. did you know that just sleeping burns tons of calories for them? But keep it up with the breastfeeding. I still nurse, only one baby because the girls never latched on. But at least they're getting my milk by bottle. It's the best thing for them. Take care! God Bless!
