Good Luck and High Scoring

I went to watch the hubby bowl a tournament in San Bernardino Sunday which was sorta like a practice session for the PBA Regional that is coming up February 15-17. He'd decided that if he did well, he'd bowl the Regional.

Here are his scores after the 5th game:
His 6th game was a 242. (I took this picture after the 5th game because I figured the hubby would turn the sheet in immediately after entering his scores, before I had a chance to take a picture - I was right.)

Things to note:
1) He made a ball change after the second game. He also pointed out that at the PBA Open event that he bowled a few weeks ago, they only allowed a maximum of NINE different balls. (He'd brought 5 with him today - only used 3.)
2) He won 2nd place in the side pots for the 1st and 5th games, and the last block of three games. Yes, he bowled a 299 (stupid 9 pin) and got SECOND place in the side pot (someone bowled a 300).
3) After my ridiculous week at work and our various after work activities (it was quite a busy week), it was nice to spend some quality time with the hubby. Not only was his superstar bowling highly attractive, but I was reminded of just how funny he is. Example: As I was snapping a random photo, he commented, "You guys (the HCBC) are like the Seinfelds of blogging. (You find humor in random everyday things.) You just don't get paid for it."

Somewhere around the third game the hubby pointed out that they had a Dippin' Dots machine which translates to him wanting to eat some. I suggested he wait until he was done bowling. After he was done bowling, he made his purchase while we waited for everyone else to finish bowling.

Guess who won the tournament?

First: Congrats to Will!

Second: I want to understand why so many balls are necessary. What is the circumstance for changing balls?

I was feeling well enough to get up and read the blog, so that means I am well enough to respond as well. However, if my words seem incoherent, I apologize.

First of all, thank you for the well wishes. Now, let me answer your questions in the order they were asked:

Rach: Actually, I have to pay up on my Thursday night league and then pay for the regional. The rest is going in the bank.

QB: I currently have 8 bowling balls, but I only take 5 of them anywhere. Two of them don't fit my hand anymore and one is a Dale Earnhardt ball, and I am not allowed to use balls with "trademarked" images (against PBA rules).

Jinjer: Actually, I have turned pro! I joined the PBA a couple of weeks ago.

KT: Think of different bowling balls like different clubs in golf. Each club is designed to do something different, and that is the same with bowling balls. There are a lot of parallels between golf and bowling, and since golf is far more popular than bowling (unfortunately), I think the golf analogies will make bowling easier to understand. I feel a blog coming on...
